Team Sparkle to Run So Cal Ragnar Relay Series, Raise Money for Rett Syndrome Research
(Huntington Beach, CA) 04/08/15 – Sparkle Athletic, the premier online retailer of running gear and outfits for ladies, is sending their Team Sparkle runners to Southern California for the So Cal Ragnar Relay Series on April 10 and 11. The team will be raising awareness of Rett syndrome as well as funds to be donated toward research of the disease.
Rett syndrome is a rare genetic disorder found predominantly in females. It affects X chromosomes on a specific gene known as MECP2, resulting in neurological problems including reduced cognition, reduced sensory function, motor function impairment, speech impediment, emotional problems, and difficulty with chewing, swallowing and digesting. The most recent statistics suggest there are as many as 2 million victims of this disease alive today.
Team Sparkle’s Ultra Ragnar team ran the So Cal race last year and raised $30,000 for Girl Power 2 Cure, a national non-profit organization with a mission to raise awareness and funds for Rett syndrome. They hope to top that amount this year as they once again team up with Girl Power 2 Cure in Ragnar4Rett. While Team Sparkle is running in Southern California, as many as 800 additional runners will be helping the cause by participating in their own local 5K races.
Money will be raised at the So Cal race based on the performance of Team Sparkle. Every time a Team Sparkle runner wearing a cape and sparkly skirt (signature trademarks of Sparkle Athletic) passes another runner, the company will donate $5 to Girl Power 2 Cure. The better the runners do, the more money will be raised. Team Sparkle invites Southern California residents to come out to Huntington Beach and cheer them on.

On April 11 and 12 Sparkle Athletic will also attend the Iron Girl Half Marathon in Clearwater, FL. They will be participating in the marathon Wellness Weekend events on Saturday as well as displaying post-race on Sunday. Again, Sparkle Athletic invites local residents and race participants to stop by and see them. It is a chance to get to know the faces behind Sparkle Athletic and get a look at some great running gear.
